Mr. Kalina Pavel, the former Counsel & Trade Commissioner, Consulate General of the Czech Republic, also a former National player in Gymnastics, fell in love with Mallakhamb, when he saw the children practicing it at Shree Samartha Vyayam Mandir, Dadar in March 2006. Pavel took up the challenge of learning Mallakhamb in March 2006, at the prime age of 42, worked very hard & practiced regularly. He learned difficult moves & also presented a demonstration of his skill during the opening of the 17th Mumbai Mayor Cup Mallakhamb Championships on 20th and 21st March 2008..
